We did a couple of fun little functions last night. One was a sweet 15 birthday party. It was a plated dinner. This is the second plated dinner for more than 100 people we have done in recent months for someone not yet old enough to drive a car. This was complete with a redecoration of the ball room, dance floor, DJ, and a bar. I'm sure this will sound silly to some people, but I can remember when having a birthday party at Burger King was a big deal. Especially if there was a magician involved.

The other was a wedding party for about 80 people. They did not want a sit down meal or a buffet. We did a couple of stationary platters (crudite, fruit & cheese), and had a carving station. Everything else was passed hors d'oeuvres. There were prosciotto wrapped cantelope, bacon wrapped shrimp, chicken saltimbocca, mascarpone tarts, antipasta skewers and a few others I can't recall at the moment. They were a lively group and infected our entire staff with their joy. The only momentary blunder of the night was when one of the DJ's smoke machines set off the hotel fire alarm.
