hmm ... what has been happening this week? Nothing really. It is the week between christmas and new years so everyone is laying low. There are almost no holiday travelers about and all the businessmen are out until the first week or two in january. However there is always work to be done in the kitchen. You may not feel like doing it, but there is something do be done. Unfortunately I often feel most people think they don't need to work for their money during these down times. They just show up, spend a few hours lounging around, and get paid for the time.

I was raised to feel a certain amount of responsibility for myself and my actions. Sometimes I'm not sure whether I want to thank my parents for this or not. If I were like all of these other people I would be much happier just floating along a lackadaisical stream. Never minding if I lose a job or not. I would just shrug my shoulders and go find another one. Instead I sweat and strain to paddle upstream, expending all my efforts for inches. When I pause for a breath I see myself slipping rapidly backwards.
